Get A Total Home Inspection Today
Most new home builders offer a warranty, usually for either 12 or 18 months after the sale. During this period, if anything breaks or you notice something the contractor may have missed during construction, you can contact the builder, and he will fix it for free. Unfortunately, this is not always the way things work in real life.
Often, the builder will delay or claim that it was built “to code”. It’s important to note that “the code” is simply a minimum acceptable standard of construction, and may fall short of “Best Practices”.
Most defects are inexpensive to fix, but if left unfixed, they can often lead to bigger problems.
A Certified Home Inspector goes above and beyond mere local municipal building codes. They are not only concerned with checking the minimum standard, but also with your maximum safety, satisfaction, and value. They work for you and want your home to remain safe, comfortable, and worry-free for a long, long time.
Every inspection generates a comprehensive, written, and legally defined Home Inspection Report. This document leaves your builder with no wiggle room and no excuses. A Certified Home Inspector’s findings carry the weight of state law, professional standards, and a nationally recognized standard of practice — providing you with documented, defensible support. It’s critical to document everything and submit it in writing to the builder before the warranty period expires.
A Builder’s Warranty Inspection is really the final step in buying any newly built home.
