Broomfield grew up along the US 36 corridor between Boulder and Denver, and its housing tells that story in layers: the original neighborhoods south of Midway Boulevard built in the 1960s and 70s, the waves of construction that followed around the Broomfield County Commons, and the newer master-planned communities like Anthem and McKay Landing on the north side. A buyer here might be choosing between a 60-year-old ranch and a 6-year-old two-story in the same week, and those two homes need very different inspections.
I am Steve Stom, the owner and only inspector at Total Home Inspection Services LLC, and I have spent more than 18 years learning the difference. Every inspection is performed by me personally, typically over about four hours, with thermal imaging included.
What I Watch for in Broomfield
- Original Broomfield neighborhoods often have first-generation electrical panels, galvanized supply lines, and sewer laterals that are now older than the trees above them. A video sewer scope is inexpensive insurance here.
- Homes from the 1980s and 90s around the Interlocken area are reaching the age where roofs, furnaces, and water heaters retire at once. I document remaining service life so you can budget realistically.
- Newer construction in Anthem and the north-side developments gets independent scrutiny; code compliance is a floor, not a standard of quality.
- Front Range expansive soils make grading and drainage worth unhurried attention on every Broomfield lot.
Colorado does not license home inspectors, so credentials are how you compare. I am an InterNACHI Certified Professional Inspector, a Level 1 Infrared Thermographer, and an IAC2 Mold Certified Professional. Schedule your Broomfield inspection online, or call or text (720) 442-0785.
